Gingerbread Week in Kindergarten - Activities & Ideas
Sunday, December 7, 2025
Hi Everyone! This time of year is so much fun ~ also very busy! Here are some ideas we have done in our kindergarten class and some freebies too! Hopefully we can make this hectic month a little easier for you and engaging for your students.

We added a gingerbread house (thanks to my husband for building this) boys and girls take turns reading inside. It took my husband and I about 2 hours to put this together but it was so worth it! The students behavior was so improved in hopes to get a chance to read inside - only about 2-3 students could fit in it at a time but they all got a chance.
Special Guests: We invite our school librarian every year to come in and read one of the Gingerbread books. We found a gingerbread outfit on Oriental Trading and would take it out every December. She loved coming in and the students loved having our someone new to read to them. Even if you do not have a costume, it's always fun to have a special guest come in and read!
Our class loves rebus stories and one of their favorite is "My Gingerbread Friends" ! You can find these here.
Their absolute favorite game we play at small group time is
It's always fun to have a pocket chart up, to get your students up and moving.
The students absolutely loved this STEM activity. We put together containers of supplies (popsicle sticks, cubes, legos, cards, planks, anything they can build with) for about 3 students to work together. We cut green and blue construction paper for the land and water. (I happened to find little gingerbread dolls at Target. They made bridges so the gingerbread man can cross the river so he won't get eaten up by the fox. The assignment was to see how many different bridges they could make and we graphed the results.
